I do believe changes to the [players command is warranted.

There's no reason we can't try a few things remembering we can always revert to what we have now.

Any "wonder" of who's out and about in the world is lost and I understand a players desire to not always show publicly in a game. I'm not aware of any successful MMO that also does this. If anyone has a link to one I'd be interested in reading how they handle/handled issues.

Some things that could replace it:
  • Look at coding the guild roster menu to not only show your guild members online but also any in an alliance linked to that guild.
  • A "friends" list where players could add/remove each other, requires accepting like a party, but otherwise looks like the players list.
Maybe there could be a compromise here. Make it so people can see who is online, but not know which char they are playing by only using the name of the first char on their account, since we need something to refer to them by ofc. That way, people can still see which people are online for socializing purposes and yet the specific char they are using will not be known so those who want some measure of privacy can have it since no one will know if they are using a crafter, VvV char, champ spawner, thief, etc.

we must have a option to hide us status to everyone,
like, if i don't want to be show in the list,
i must be able to turn if off so no one will know that i'm online.

that sounds like a good idea, but the display name could be the forum user name

In the past it was removed but there was a noticeable population drop shortly after.

Do people like being able to see who is on? It seems to encourage players to stay logged in if they log in and use [players and see a friend or enemy online.

All commands are logged and the [players command is used quite often. (Not including when it pops up on login)

Should be optional to appear in that list.
If they know the name of your champer/spawner they will look for you to kill you.

Once you make it optional, there won't be any reason to keep it. It's either on or off.

PVP players really won't mind when it will get removed. Funny thing is that this post was made by PVP player whos guild specialized in raiding other players on champ spawns :D

Oh the irony...

But he has diffrent reasons-he posted bcs people check list and once Darkwind or others show online
Call fellow pvp for defend
Run safe spot before they find you on champs.

So we get list only inside cities/houses now just not on spawns anymore. But agree it was no issue when it was off. And i like how it work now

The objective here was to encourage people to get to know new facets and not just stay on tramell, as many are afraid when there are pvp players online. The way it is, I think it's cool, because we don't get paranoid about looking at the list all the time.

I just think that Dan could revisit the issue of getting double everything on Fell.

PVP, is also in the essence of the game.

Also, I understand that there are people who don't like to venture out, but I see that we already have new players wanting to experience this part and that becomes cool, because in a way the fights between guilds are always the same.

Agreed, my Mule char was in Fel all the time gathering resources. During those travels I was only approached by another player twice, one was a red and the other blue. Both left me alone after some small talk. I might add that I was stopped by Dan on one occasion checking to see if I was unattended script mining.

Now since the removal of double resources I have no reason whatsoever to go into fell with that Mule. ( Risk vs Reward )

My T-hunter toon goes into Fel for T maps and Sos's but that's about it. I've never had any trouble of any kind. I don't participate in PVP but the risk of getting ganked in Fel has never been a concern to me I still go there from time to time. Hell, I even have 3 or 4 houses in Fel.

My vote will still be "No" to any changes to the current system we have in place now.
