Changes coming to Yew ... alternative to Luna

Luna is ugly ... i guess most people agree.
Luna is also causing crashes.
With the rework of Yew maybe we could create alternative to it on the Heritage.
The only reason why Luna is popular due to majority of services sitting directly to each other just near the moongate and by recreating this we can make the curse of ugly Luna go away.

So what is my proposal :
* make trade stands around the central point in luna with all the traders
* create a moongate near it and remap the "Yew moongate" to it
* make Yew the Heritage meeting place

I like the idea, sort of.

think there are better cities, Skara Brae or Mistas spring to mind.

but I don’t think you’d pry people away from Luna even if you held a gun to their mother’s head

True, but Yew is to be reworked so why not go this way.
People moving away from luna ... well there is no real alternative.
All facts considered it is the only place with all the services next to a moongate.

You also need to keep in mind that Luna housing is a bit of a status symbol on Heritage, trying to turn Yew into anything other than a quest hub will devalue those status symbols (I mean, if you can look past the fact a fair few of the owners apparently don’t even play here anymore)

You're free to make any city in the game your "hub". Luna is the center of commerce here and people that have invested in their Luna plots don't need to have them devalued because you don't think the city is pretty enough.

Saying that "most people agree" with your statement was your first mistake. I think Luna has nice aesthetics, the layout is great and I'm perfectly happy with it being our "main city".

I remember when a lot of us used to hang around Haven, then it got blown up and was replaced by an ugly ghetto...
Luna only has one thing going for it, convenience, everything in a small area. Otherwise it's ugly.

Which Luna plot is yours? It's entirely possible that the majority of Luna plot owners could agree to add a certain piece of deco or theme etc.

I wouldn't want to live or have a house near Luna, not even if I was paid! I will take a nice grass plot almost anywhere in Trammel, preferably near water, over any other place in game. Zento City is okay too. With Vendor Search there is no need for shops to all be at Luna, the days of me wandering around every Luna shop are long since gone.

i think I want to clarify my position, I'm talking about the city of Luna, not the housing, I don't want to speak for anyone else but the housing isn't a problem, not at all. build a beautiful cottage, build a pink brick. totally house owners choice and I'm cool with that, but I do think the core city (the part everyone uses) could defo do with a spruce up besides this started out as a suggestion (a terrible suggestion, but a suggestion none the less) whether it happens or not isn't up to any of us.

Same as @Miral I don't really care what people do with their own property, the part of Luna that is most ugly is the part the Devs created, people can all hang out where they like, I honestly don't see how Yew is any better for hanging out, not much there really.
Also I'm perplexed as to why anyone thought I was attacking their deco or house building skills.... I only go to Luna shops direct from the little map VS gives me. I'm not there for sight-seeing and the only houses I care about are my own.

I always said and will say that Luna sucks a long shot. Almost whole Malas sucks (exceptions - doom and labirynth). Wouldn't even feel sad if it was removed. Big green pancake which only purpose was to add more housing spots and place to put new Necro and Paladin npcs. That's all. We have both of them in Heaven now so only purpose for luna (except for doom and lab ofc) is to get house as close to inner ring as possible.

I'm all in if we were to move meeting and trade hubs somewhere else. Not a huge fan of Yew (i love Brit) but everything is better than green pancake with orange sandcastle on it.

Luna's popularity came about from a Factions revamp on OSI.
When a (4-way) faction town in Fel changed (or perhaps just got it's sigil taken, i forget) the adjacent town in Tram would have a Mob invasion.
Town guards were turned off for these invasions so all those who parked AFK in a faction town (Brit Bank) came back to grey screens.
Luna, not being a faction town and the bank being right by the moongate then became the new hub for AFK banksitters. Once the invasions were over with entirely, people didn't bother returning to Brit/elsewhere.

I don't see people leaving Luna as their banksitting hub but perhaps add a few more NPC characters nearby the Spellweavers Circle that's in Yew.
I think a stable is right there so not really sure which NPC's the OP really might want added. What would be the benefit of trying to move the AFK hub anyways?

I am late to this but Luna has been the go-to since Malas opened. It was the end of WBB as the main hub. The bank has the stables and moongate nearby so a place bank sitters liked and then you have the Blacksmith & Tailor NPCs right there for bod storage and easy log out. You can technically get your bods from upstairs and then all of the player vendor houses right there (before VS was a thing) and it has just stayed. I would love a new place but I doubt people would move from Luna. It doesn't bother me one way or another as I still do all of my stuff from Skara, only go to Luna to meet others or use one of the rune libraries.

At one point on Europa the road out of Umbra was a popular vendor spot, many big shops sprang up there, also the area around Zento was very popular for shopping, I used to go to these places and just browse the shops but that was before VS.
