Being Worked On Pet Gym Battles (Pokemon UO Style)

This idea was proposed in the past but abandoned. A framework still exists in the code though.

Pet Gym Design Idea
  • Take the otherwise unused old Counselor Halls in each city and convert them into Pet Training Gyms.
  • Each gym will require a one time "membership fee" to use.
  • Gyms could include special pet training dummies and pet DPS recorders.
  • Each town has a gym, and each gym has a Gym Master.
    • Gym Masters have 3 specific trained pets that must be defeated.
    • You must train up and use the same type of pet as the gym master to fight their version.
    • Will require tamers to train and enhance pets they otherwise might not use.
  • Earn unique titles, pets, and decorations for defeating gym masters.
  • Defeat all gym masters to earn a spot on the Gym Masters leaderboard.

Pet Battle
  • Once a pet has been used in a Pet Battle that pet is forever linked to the player that used it.
    • A pet linked this way cannot be traded. If released the pet will vanish.
    • The intent is for each tamer to train and compete. Not purchase pets that have previously won and re-use them.
  • Pet Battle pets must be bonded.
  • When a pet you control is battling a pet controlled by a gym master you will not be able to perform beneficial acts on the pet. Your pet and the gym masters pet will fight until the first one reaches 1 HP left.
  • Pet healing abilities will be disabled.
  • Pet battles have a time limit of 5 minutes.
    • You must defeat their pet in the time required. Ties = a lose.

  • Serpent's Hold Pet Training Gym
    • Gym Master - "Rex"
    • Pet types required to enter:
      • Bullfrog - Max trained.
      • Alligator - Max trained.
      • Snake - Max trained.
    • When you approach the gym master, he sends a menu asking which one of his pets you would like to fight.
      • On the list you see Bullfrog, Alligator, and Snake.
        • Each gym pet has been maxed trained and all available skill points have been spent. You will be able to view their animal lore menus ahead of time.
      • To select one of the gym masters pets you will have to have the same pet type out and under your control.
        • failing to train said pet ahead of time will surely lead to a loss.
    • If you meet all the criteria the gym master will summon his pet and your pet to a small enclosure next to him where the pet battle will begin.


This outline will serve as a basic guide for designing and implementing a pet gym system on Heritage.

This document will be changed and updated based on feedback, coding outcomes, and in-game test cycles.
