Starting tomorrow and then for the next 60 days there will be no Stat loss incurred from VvV/PvP.
Stat loss was first introduced as a way to attempt to stop rampant murdering, then as a way to prevent fielding troops again quickly in Faction fights. This was a time when if you were in Minax fighting TB you could get rezzed quickly at the healers right out side castle Britain, grab a spear, and jump right back into it.
Times have surely changed and usually after getting rocked it takes a few minutes anyway to get back out there.
Since then UO has dragged along this mechanic which possibly should have been left in the past.
A different perspective:
Dan the new player wants to get into PvP. He plays a few months, puts together some gear, heads to a Felucca dungeon, and gets destroyed.
Dan expects to get destroyed. He's just trying to have some fun and maybe get a lucky shot in here and there. He dosent have the best gear or learned all the ins and outs yet.
However over time getting Stat lossed everytime where you can't really do anything after is discouraging. Dan might not know about VvV potions, or even want to be in VvV, but he knows all this in-between just let's him have more time to contemplate that he sucks at PvP and that this isn't fun.
