Discussion Limit access to Felucca dungeons and Felucca T2A by IP

I've seen this come up in discussions before and I think it deserves further consideration.

What if we only allowed one logged in accounts IP to access Felucca dungeons and/or Felucca T2A at any one time? How about VvV flagged characters?

Example: Player 1, Player 2, and Player 3 are each on different accounts owned under one IP.
  • Player 1 is in Felucca T2A doing champ spawns.
  • Player 2 is outside one of T2A entrance passages.
  • Player 3 is logged out in Felucca T2A.
Player 2 tries to enter one of the fel T2A passages. He is blocked with a message letting him know he's already actively in fel T2A on another character under the same IP.

Player 3 logs on. On login the system could either auto kick the other player or could automatically teleporter that player to a random passage entrance.

Due to the increased difficulty of being forced into using only 1 character we could look at loot bonuses and new unique items as well for these special restricted areas.

Couldn't a VPN just get around this? Sure, but there are usually ping / performance issues when routing through VPNs and I can further deploy machine learning now to form connections between accounts based on frequency of logging into accounts on the same IP, login time behaviors, and more, to further link accounts together.

Thoughts?

i think this is cool, i feel we need a more risk / reward balance in Felucca so more people try to go there, with this restriction it will balance this because you can't make a champ with your pvp on the entrance.

I often go on business trips to other countries and there are times of the year when I often change my IP address. How it will be?

Idea itself its not that bad.
Only if it also will be a thing during events.

On other side there is low server population. This will make more sense if our player base would be little bigger than now. 5-10active players not best thing to change at this point imo.

With more players, a change would make more sense. The current server state is more suitable for solo play (low population), where assistance from other accounts comes in handy.

IMHO - adding more and more new restrictions to the server will only discourage people from playing.

Another limitations while not providing any incentive to actually spend time in Fel? Sounds great!

If there would be more players - sure, not a bad idea for force group play but in current state of server, limitation like that is suicide.

And meanwhile every time someone mentioned limiting houses per IP or using multiple accounts actively in PVP there was the same argument - "but they can use VPN so..." Eh...

The idea is good, but as mentioned above, more online players are needed for this. But for Doom it mattered

First off, I am not a big fan of the PVP play style, if other players like it ok, it's just not my cup of tea. As such I no longer participate in active PVP, meaning, I don't go looking for a fight. And have'nt for years. I also do not run any scripts for bots or to look for bots, it's just me. Have I ever been PK'ed in Felucca? Yes, I have but the majority of my encounters with Reds has been positive, they knew what I was doing and left me alone.

I do like the Risk vs Reward concept. I have actively gathered resources in Felucca when it made sense to do so. Risking a PVP encounter was just part of the equation. It was also a risk I was willing to take. When the decision was made to cut the resources in Felucca it didn't make sense to take the risk any longer so I stayed in Tram.

I agree with the majority of the posters above, it's a good idea Dan but the low (Active) player base along with the removal of the Risk vs Reward you have to ask: Is it really needed?

As noted in the original post, we could make it worth it to only attempt areas on one character.

That would work if our player base be a little bigger than now.

Lets say player want do champion spawn and while active pvm got raided by 3-4pvp from enemy guild.
It was possible back then to call guildies for help and at least it was possible to finish champ.

Recently im used to defend myself due to lack of players if i can't do this or my guildies doing also something in restricted area im 100%sure to be killed and cant even ress/defend myself.
I will just avoid going to fel no matter what will be possible to get there = that mean basicly i jusg stop play at all at this point.

Thay change should be done when first time being mentioned so +-2years ago when some people being reported for using 2+chars in pvp at same time..
Now with Online at 11-24 ACCOUNTS online(so 4-8people) it seems to be pointless change

This is only a discussion. Like most things in In Concept, it probably won't see the light of day.

It is useful to collect the feedback though. Especially over long periods of time as attitudes and situations change.
