Heritage gets an expansion! What do we do and what gets changed?

Here is what I would do:

#1
  • Reset item properties to 0 keeping just names and hues.
  • Re-configure all monsters and bosses. Reconfigure skills, hit points, special abilities, and more based on modern UO mechanics.
  • Add a new landmass and items to obtain from all systems.
#2
  • Still re-buff/change all creatures for 2024. Tougher Mongbats, tougher skeletons, everything.
  • New "top tier" items are bind on equip and or Brittle /150/150.
  • Max durability is 150/150. No Powder of Fort.

Your awesome ideas!

What would you do? World of Warcraft does similar things from time to time to re-balance the world as content gets added. Properties, levels, and min/max are constantly getting changed and reset.

I want to add content but we need to figure out powercreep and how to handle situations where we can't just simple keep adding stronger properties while not adjusting monsters across the board.

1) More abilities for monsters, visual encounters!
2) Expanded Masteries maybe? Cut loose from the OSI standard and add one or two additionals
3) New Properties for armor/weapon/shields ?
4) Expand your sea content, more fishes, trade in systems, more encounters on the ocean!

Go Custom, get your own launcher!
Dungeon Expansions!
New visual art!
New Mobile Animations!
New Spell animations!

I could go on more but its late!

Good luck!

So every existing item (including all of the event items, donation items, artifacts) will be set to 0, as in they'll be worthless? I'm a little confused by that. That's what WoW does? I'm not opposed to new items either, with entirely new mechanics, etc, I just don't know exactly what you're getting at.
I'm cool with new changes btw, obviously the shard has been stale for a long time and an expansion will breathe new life into things.

Any ideas on what would be fun in a new expansion?

If we reset the item properties, I don't see any point in leaving them. It's a semi-wipe, unfair in my opinion. Those who have accumulated a lot of gold will lose only part of their wealth in items, those who have all their wealth in items will lose everything they have.

The idea of reducing the durability of all items is logical, I understand. I understand the idea of removing the powder/fort system. Along with this, the "negative properties" system would have to be removed too. Because in that case it doesn't make sense.

An interesting idea, but too much work for one person, you will waste time that could be spent on other changes that are more important for the shard. Unless you already have a "borrowed source".
  • Add a new landmass and items to obtain from all systems.
In my opinion, there are too many continents for such a small shard. One PvM continent, e.g. with transferred dungeons and interesting places from others, and another PvP continent would be enough. Or you can only add new custom dungeons, one for PvM and one for PvP, with a small automatic cyclical boss event.

There are a lot of skills that are currently useless. You could think about adding their useful functions or buffs. Improve mobs to force to have them. Currently, power scrolls for them are also useless.
Improving the ocean world is also an interesting idea. Adding more random spawns of custom monsters and bosses, more valuable items and bigger rewards.
I would start with something like this, instead of spending time and enthusiasm on changes that will take a lot of time and may contain a lot of bugs.

Uhmmmm thats just a wipe but we keep some souvenirs.

Thats all good ideas in my opinion, worth debating and considering but didnt you wanted to stay as close as possible to EA? That would completely change the direction of Heritage.
